Erase Firefox Download History

Firefox Download Freeze

This shows you how to remove the download history file so Firefox downloads doesn't load slow, freeze, and give you problems. This works on Firefox 2.0 and I assume it would be the same for Firefox 1 and Firefox 3.

1. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\ and find the owner's folder. It might be "Mike" or whatever you named it. If you don't see it in My Computer under Windows Explorer click Tools> Folder Options...> View> and uncheck Show hidden files and folders and hide extensions for known file types. (If you still can't see it uncheck hide protected operation system files, but you shouldn't have to.) You should change these back when you're done.

2. Next, go to \Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\gpag1wkr.default. On XP, and I'm sure Vista is the same, you'll find several files and folders in this folder

3. Locate "downloads.rdf."

4. Close Firefox. Rename "downloads.rdf" to "downloadsBACKUP.rdf"

5. Restart Firefox. It will make a new downloads.rdf without deleting the one you renamed and the Firefox freeze should stop.

6. You might have to do this every month or 2 if you download a lot of stuff.

And, I hope you're off and running! Please comment below if this has helped you!
