Firefox Market Share in Europe

Firefox Market Share in Europe

Our Firefox is becoming more and more awesome by the minute! Firefox 3.0 is now more popular than Firefox 2.0 and Firefox 3.0 and Firefox 3.1 along with the old users of Firefox 2.x are taking up a large percentage of the market share!

Click here for a similar article: "Firefox 3.0 Gains Market Share!" This article has more explanations about the market share Firefox is stealing over Microsoft's IE7 and IE8 (Internet Explorer). Opera, Safari, and Google's Chrome are all maintaining their small share of the market.

Here's a quick map I found of the market share of certain countries' use of Firefox in the region. Pretty interesting!

Firefox Scroll Wheel Doesn't Work on Firefox 3

Firefox Scrollwheel Doesn't Work on Firefox 3

Here's another simple solution for Firefox. This won't crash Firefox but it's pretty annoying if you're used to using your scroll wheel and then in Firefox it doesn't work.

Well, are you ready for the big fix? It's so simple you won't believe that you didn't figure it out yourself:

Push F7

And that's it. Push F7 to toggle Firefox scrolling on and off. I had this problem once so know that it sucks when you can't scroll. Hope it works for you!

Safemode Firefox 3 Crash Fix

Here's another simple way to repair Firefox. If you have extensions in Firefox it might be that one of these extensions is what's causing the Crash Firefox.

So, what you could try is booting Windows to Safemode. To do this you simply tap F8 (I think it's F8, look it up online) when you first turn on the computer before it boots up. Choose Safemode with Networking (or else the Internet won't work).

Next, open the crash Firefox in Safemode: "Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)" is what it says under programs in the stare menu. Then, while this is open, go to "Add-ons" in the "Tools" menu and disable extensions which may be causing your problems. The best solution is to disable (but don't install) them all and to reboot to Windows normally.

Now if this works you have successfully repaired Firefox all by yourself! But what about your extensions? Well, you go back to "Add-ons" once Firefox is running normally and reactivate the disabled extensions one-by-one. After installing each, surf the Web for a bit to make sure that it works. Eventually you'll find which extension is causing the Firefox freeze. Freezing Firefox happens sometimes with extensions. Luckily, there are so many extensions that you might be able to find an alternative. Or, the extensions are updated frequently. So, wait a month and it might be fixed. Or, help them out and contact them, explaining the bug to them. It's the least you can do to get a new version quickly.

Good luck!

Firefox 3 Gains Market Share!

Firefox Market Share

Firefox is still gaining in popularity versus Internet Explorer. IE is bundled with Windows which is why most people are still using either IE6 or IE 7. However, take a look at IE8--the new Internet Explorer--versus Firefox 3--the newest Firefox.

Firefox 3 has many, many more users than Internet Explorer 8 and since IE8 isn't bundled with Windows Vista (or Windows XP on netbooks). Firefox usually needs to be downloaded. Since it's new, so does IE8. Firefox is by far the most popular browser for "people who care" and people who download their own browsers. IE8, however, since it comes with Windows, will always retain a certain popularity.

Download Google Chrome Users

Below is a chart showing how other downloadable browsers--Opera and Google's Chrome--don't stack up to Firefox. Opera has been around for 10 years and Chrome for about one year. They are both great browsers--better than IE--yet still, they aren't popular.

Internet Explorer 8 Download (IE8 Download) Users

For virus protection, Firefox is very, very strong. However, due to its popularity, there are more backdoors being found by more and more hackers as Firefox is now the subject of many attacks. However, Firefox users--those who care and download stuff for their computer--are more likely to have updated virus and spyware programs on their computers. IE users, however, don't care as much on average.

Which do we use? Firefox, of course! IE is backup on all Windows computers, but we'd recommend the Google Chrome or Opera browsers at Firefox backups. IE is just too vulnerable to attacks--even IE8.

Repair Firefox Crash: Remove Downloads File

mozilla firefox crash fix

Sometimes Mozilla Firefox Crashes because the downloads file is too large. This is a simple fix from the menu if you have Mozilla Firefox 3 crash, but older versions don't give you such an easy option to repair Firefox.

Here's something to try:

Go here

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR PROFILE NAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\NAME

Find the download.rdf the profile folder. Delete it, or else rename it "download.rdfBACKUP." Restart your broken firefox. Does this firefix work?
